These day, I am trying install Red5 flash server on CentOS 5.x, it’s part of Openmeetings web conference application. When I am try to start Red5 server using , the service won’t work, here the log :

Running on Linux
Starting Red5
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Could not create the Java virtual machine.

After hour searching I found that the system limit memory usage, so the Red5 that based on java won’t start. Use ulimit command will resolve it, ah then we go to next step 😀

ulimit -n 4096 -u 14335 -m unlimited -d unlimited -s 8192 -c 1000000 -v unlimited 2>/dev/null

This solution may be used for other application that give same error message 🙂
